Properties of Addition and Multiplication Math Wheel

This math wheel is an engaging way to introduce or review the properties of addition and multiplication (commutative, associative, distributive, and identity properties).

• Students take notes, use color to help with memory, and complete practice problems found around the wheel.
• Students can keep this graphic organizer in their notebooks as a resource/study tool.

• Properties math wheel
• Teacher key/wheel with completed notes
• Colored sample of wheel
• A PowerPoint file that has a blank wheel with background, so you can add text to make your own math wheels, if you’d like (for classroom use only – not commercial use).

• Notes sections and examples (notes are just suggestions, and you can alter them or use other examples that better fit your instruction if you’d like)
• Guided practice or individual practice: 20 problems in the pattern around the circle; students identify each property and then color the section according to the color code on the wheel. ** The color-coding gives you a quick way to determine whether they are identifying the properties correctly.
• Coloring/doodling opportunity: students can color the background pattern, as well as the headings and doodle arrows
